From Conrad....

Hey anybody paying attention to the news about the Baptist kidnappers in Haiti. Highlights a point I've been trying to make for years. turns out some of the parents actually have their children to the Americans saying they had problems feeding their children before the quake and they fear feeding the children will be even more difficult after the quake. That news breaks my heart. Rather than focusing only on feeding the children or rescuing them we also could be finding ways to empower the parents to feed their own children. Lets pray there is a focus on really helping the Haitian people by encouraging investment in Haiti and micro loans for entrepreneurs which will in turn help people seeking to find life sustaining work. After all, these people are not poor because they are lazy. Many of them are poor because they have no jobs.

Thanks for your comments Conrad. I know of other orphanages in Haiti that accept children who have parents, because the children will be able to have more. This case would not have even been noticed except the church ladies tried to take the children out of the country.
